Merz's Terms and Conditions dated September 15, 2026 require a nonrefundable $10,000 deposit or approved financing to secure each Ultherapy PRIME System, and in a full reading on September 23, 2026 they do not state the price of the system itself. FDA clearance K233996 treats the Ulthera System as three parts, and the FDA's GUDID database files the PRIME control unit under a record of its own. Some used consoles on DOTmed and Bimedis, read on September 23, 2026, carry prices. The 2018 DOTmed card, for one, offers training "at additional cost", so a resale price and a Merz purchase do not cover the same things.
What the FDA record calls an Ultherapy system
FDA clearance K233996 of February 22, 2024 describes the Ulthera System as a control unit with system software, a handpiece with cable and interchangeable transducers, and the FDA's GUDID database files the PRIME control unit as its own record, model UC-1 Control Unit (PRIME) Rev. A, so ask a seller whose listing says only "Ultherapy machine" which of these parts is for sale.
A GUDID search for "ulthera", read on September 23, 2026, returns separate records for UC-1 control units in revisions from Rev. A to Rev R, for UH-2 handpieces and for a UR-1 cart. The PRIME control unit record carries the same UC-1 model designation as the earlier consoles, with PRIME added in brackets, and its own device identifier. UC-1 on its own therefore appears in more than one console record. Ask for the full model string with the bracketed PRIME and the revision letter.
| Brand name in GUDID | Model as filed | Device identifier | Published | Distribution status | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ulthera System Control Unit PRIME | UC-1 Control Unit (PRIME) Rev. A | 00840763101145 | Apr 10, 2024 | In Commercial Distribution | FDA GUDID, read Sep 23, 2026 |
| Ulthera System Control Unit | UC-1 Rev R | 00840763100902 | Apr 27, 2018 | In Commercial Distribution | FDA GUDID, read Sep 23, 2026 |
| Ulthera System Handpiece | UH-2 DS 2.0 Rev A | 00840763101152 | Apr 8, 2024 | In Commercial Distribution | FDA GUDID, read Sep 23, 2026 |
The records point to different clearances. The UH-2 DS 2.0 Rev A handpiece record lists K180623, and the UC-1 Rev R console record lists K134032 (both read September 23, 2026). K180623, cleared on May 4, 2018, describes the same three-part system and gives its changes over K134032 as software version 1700 with minor updates, the IFU and the TIM merged into one document, and UDI labeling. Ask the seller what "DS 2.0" in the handpiece model stands for, copy the suffix as part of the model string and do not price it as a feature.

Source: FDA 510(k) K233996, comparison with predicate K180623, read September 23, 2026.
K233996 names two differences from its predicate, a new console design with new interface graphics, and "Hardware updates to comply with the latest electromedical standards and address end-of-life components". The document states that these differences do not significantly affect clinical functionality or specifications. Screen, software and operating system are parameters of the control unit, not of the transducers. When a seller offers an older console, ask which software version its screen reports, because the table above gives a different software version for each of the two consoles it compares.
If a seller states a service life for the console or the handpiece, or how many years a console has left, ask what the claim rests on.

FDA clearance K260618, the most recent of the clearances read for this page, extends the indication to the knees and states "There are no changes in design, hardware, or software between subject and predicate device." It reports software version 2.1.6400 for both devices, where K233996 gave 2.1.2030 (read September 23, 2026). Its predicate, K250418, was not read for this page.
Merz's terms dated September 15, 2026 define the warranted equipment as "the Ultherapy DeepSEE or Ultherapy PRIME control unit, hand piece, and power cord" (read September 23, 2026). Merz's own contract thus treats DeepSEE and PRIME as two systems, so ask which one a listing titled only "Ultherapy" offers.
What Merz ties to the purchase of a new PRIME system
Merz's Terms and Conditions dated September 15, 2026 attach one day of hands-on in-office training, up to four hours, for two staff members to the purchase of an Ultherapy PRIME System and give a limited warranty of one year from purchase on the control unit, hand piece and power cord, unless the signed agreement says otherwise.
| Term | What the September 15, 2026 terms state | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | a nonrefundable $10,000 deposit or approved financing to secure each Ultherapy PRIME System | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Training included | one day of hands-on in-office training, up to four hours, for two staff members, plus a minimum of four hours of additional training open to all staff | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Further training | available for a fee paid before the training date; the practice supplies transducers for those sessions at its own expense | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Warranty | "control unit, hand piece, and power cord", one year from the purchase date unless the signed agreement says otherwise | Sep 23, 2026 |
| After the warranty | a one-year Service Contract Term in which "Merz will facilitate the repair or replacement" of non-functioning Equipment at no cost, for Equipment of systems "owned and operated in the United States" | Sep 23, 2026 |
| After a Merz repair | a 30-day period from the system's return in which repaired Equipment that fails is repaired or replaced at no cost | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Who services the system | "Merz is the only authorized service provider for the Equipment"; an unauthorized provider voids all warranties or service contracts in effect | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Warranty transfer | "The warranties set forth in Section 8 are personal to Customer and are nontransferable." | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Balance | full payment due before receipt of the system unless agreed otherwise in writing | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Title | title and risk of loss pass to the customer on tender to the carrier | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Returns | for Ultherapy DeepSEE and PRIME products, delivered products that were purchased may not be returned | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Credit | all orders subject to Merz's credit approval | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Refurbished units | Merz may fulfill PRIME orders with refurbished/recertified equipment under the same warranty terms as new | Sep 23, 2026 |
| Price | none stated for the system or the service contract | Sep 23, 2026 |
The warranty list in section 8(A) names the control unit, hand piece and power cord as the warranted Equipment. In the same document, read on September 23, 2026, transducers appear in the product list, in a limit on complimentary transducer use during training, and as the practice's own expense for later training sessions. Ask Merz to write into the quote whether any transducers come with the console, and which models. See also who can buy professional aesthetic consumables in the US.
Section 4(A) lets Merz fill a PRIME order, at its discretion, with "refurbished/recertified equipment" carrying the same warranty as new. The terms do not state a price for the system or for the service contract, and they tie the $10,000 deposit, or approved financing in its place, to buying a system. Before you sign, get the system price, the service contract terms, the fee for extra training and a statement of whether the unit will be new or recertified in writing.
What Merz's terms say about transfer, the software license and resale
Merz's Terms and Conditions dated September 15, 2026 make the system warranties personal to the customer and nontransferable, license the system software on a nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable basis and bar the practice from assigning its rights without Merz's written consent, so the protections of a new purchase attach to the practice that signs.
Section 6 has the practice acknowledge that products modified or refurbished by other parties, or "purchased from parties other than Merz are not FDA-cleared/approved," and that the practice carries full liability for adverse events when it uses them (read September 23, 2026). This is a clause in Merz's sales contract, binding on the practice that accepts it. It is not an FDA finding. If your practice already buys from Merz under these terms, read this clause before you take a console from another seller.
Under section 8(D), Merz is the sole authorized servicer, and a repair by any other provider immediately voids the warranties and service contracts then in effect. Section 8(B) confines the service contract to systems owned and operated in the United States. Ask the seller who has serviced the unit, and ask for the records.
Section 6 also states "Merz prohibits the re-sale, rental, or leasing of Products." Section 9 grants the software license as a personal right of use, and the terms add "Use by third parties is not permitted without written authorization from Merz." Section 23 lets Merz withhold consent to an assignment "in its sole discretion" (all read September 23, 2026). Before buying a used console, ask Merz in writing what it will offer you on warranty, the software license and service, and at what fee. See also aesthetic device warranty outside the authorized channel.
Used Ultherapy consoles on DOTmed, Bimedis and Machinio
Used Ultherapy consoles with a price, read on DOTmed and Bimedis on September 23, 2026, were listed from $7,995 for a 2012 system at Mesa Medical Sales to $26,000 for a 2013 unit at Lowcostlasers, while Machinio's console listings, including those with PRIME in the title, showed the price field blank or reading "Request Price".
| Seller, as shown | Title and year, as listed | Price as shown | What the page states about the kit and terms | Source, read |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Laser Agent, Inc. (IN, USA) | 2018 Ulthera | $17,900.00 | system, handpiece, system key, power cord, owner's manual; "In Office Clinical Training Available (at additional cost)"; "Used – Good"; "Items are sold as-is with no returns or refunds available unless explicitly stated." | DOTmed listing, Sep 23, 2026 |
| The Laser Agent, Inc. | 2015 Ulthera | $12,900 USD | results page entry only | DOTmed results page, Sep 23, 2026 |
| The Laser Agent, Inc. | 2014 Ulthera | $12,000 USD | results page entry only | DOTmed results page, Sep 23, 2026 |
| The Laser Agent, Inc. | 2013 Ulthera | $11,000 USD | results page entry only | DOTmed results page, Sep 23, 2026 |
| Mesa Medical Sales | ULTHERA System 2012 | $7,995 USD | results page entry only | DOTmed results page, Sep 23, 2026 |
| Lowcostlasers | 2013 Ultherapy laser machine | $26,000 USD | results page entry only | DOTmed results page, Sep 23, 2026 |
| Equipment Resale Inc. (FL, USA) | 2022 console | "Call Phill for a great deal." | "Used – Good"; "Items are sold as-is with no returns or refunds available unless explicitly stated." | DOTmed listing, Sep 23, 2026 |
| listed on Bimedis | 2016 ULTHERA Ultherapy Face-lift Machines | $12,900 | "Used – Good", United States; ask the seller for kit and warranty | Bimedis, Sep 23, 2026 |
| listed on Machinio | 2024 Ultherapy Ulthera Prime | blank or "Request Price" | ask the seller for kit and terms | Machinio, Sep 23, 2026 |
| listed on Machinio | Merz Aesthetics Ultherapy PRIME | blank or "Request Price" | Clearwater, FL | Machinio, Sep 23, 2026 |
Each figure in the table is one seller's asking price on one day, not an Ultherapy or Merz price. The Laser Agent listed a 2018 Ultherapy console at $17,900.00 on DOTmed (listing dated September 14, 2026, read September 23, 2026), and the 2018 listing itemizes a kit. DOTmed's Ulthera listings showed eight entries that day, seven systems and one transducer. Ask the seller of the 2018 unit whether it is a PRIME or a DeepSEE system. Do not read the generation from the year in a title; read a used price against a model string, a kit list and a year, or it is a number without an object.
The same 2018 card sells in-office clinical training at additional cost, while Merz's September 15, 2026 terms attach a day of training to a new PRIME purchase. The Bimedis listing page showed the 2016 unit as "Used – Good", in the United States, at $12,900. Machinio's Ultherapy page showed the console price fields blank or reading "Request Price". If the console you want is a PRIME unit, ask for its price in a written quote.
For a Morpheus8 console, see what a Morpheus8 machine costs, and which platform you buy.
What returns as a cost after the console
After the console come transducers, which DOTmed and Machinio showed as listings of their own on September 23, 2026, and service after the one-year warranty, which Merz's Terms and Conditions dated September 15, 2026 run in one-year Service Contract Terms.
Machinio showed new DS 7-4.5, DS 4-4.5, DS 10-1.5 and DS 7-3.0 transducers at $2,095 each on September 23, 2026, and the part itself is covered in Ultherapy transducers: lines, prices and resale rules. Ask for transducers as their own line in every quote, whether the console is new or used.
The 2018 DOTmed card lists a "System Key" in its kit, and Machinio showed a separate "USB Key for Ulthera Ultherapy Ultrasound Skin Tightening System" at $2,475 USD, listed in Phoenix, AZ (both read September 23, 2026). Machinio listed the key on its own. On a used console, get the seller to confirm in writing that the key ships with the unit.
Section 8(B) of the Merz terms runs the service contract in one-year terms that start when the warranty or the previous contract ends, and section 8(C) gives a Merz repair its own 30 days of cover from the system's return (read September 23, 2026). Ask Merz for the service contract fee, and for the date from which it runs, before you set a used console's price against a new one.
Training beyond what the terms include is sold for a fee paid in full before the training date, and the practice brings transducers to those sessions at its own expense (Merz terms dated September 15, 2026, read September 23, 2026). Get a written figure for training from whichever seller you are comparing.
The items to get priced in writing after the console are transducers per unit, service after the first year, extra training and, on a used console, the system key, each as a separate line.
How to check that an Ultherapy listing is the registered console
Ask for the model string and the device identifier from the console label before comparing prices, because the FDA's GUDID database files the PRIME control unit as model UC-1 Control Unit (PRIME) Rev. A under device identifier 00840763101145, while one page returned for "ultherapy machine price" on September 23, 2026 sells a machine its seller calls "Ulthera Prime HIFU Machine" at $1,899.00.
- The model string on the console label, such as UC-1 Control Unit (PRIME) or UC-1 with its revision letter.
- The device identifier, which opens a record in the FDA's GUDID database.
- The handpiece model and revision, such as UH-2 DS 2.0 Rev A.
- Whether the unit is the PRIME or the DeepSEE system, in the seller's words.
- Every item in the kit, including the system key, power cord and manual.
- The seller's return and warranty terms, word for word.
- Whether training is included or priced separately.
That page, on micoaes.com, describes its seller as "a China-based professional aesthetic device manufacturer," gives $20,000 to $60,000 as the average cost of an "ultherapy machine" and $1,000 as its own price, and presents a 2D HIFU machine it says uses the same technology as Ultherapy (read September 23, 2026). A konmison.com snippet in the same results refers to "cost differences between various types of Ultherapy and HIFU machines." The name on a listing is the seller's wording. The FDA clearance for the PRIME console, K233996, names the device "Ulthera System (UC-1 Control Unit PRIME)" (read September 19, 2026), and that name, with the GUDID record, is what to check the seller's wording against.
Check the handpiece the same way against the UH-2 DS 2.0 handpiece record, where the model, device identifier and publication date can be compared with what the seller wrote. Once a seller has put the model string, the device identifier and the kit list in writing, you can request a quote and compare it line by line.
FAQ
What does Merz ask for up front when a practice buys an Ultherapy PRIME system?
Merz's sales terms of September 15, 2026, read on September 23, 2026, set a $10,000 deposit per system, which approved financing can replace. For the system price itself, write to Merz and have the figure put on a quotation.
Does a used Ultherapy console come with transducers?
On September 23, 2026, the DOTmed card for The Laser Agent's 2018 unit listed a handpiece, a power cord, a system key and a manual with the console. Have the seller's written offer name, model by model, any transducer included in the sale.
How does financing fit into an Ultherapy PRIME purchase?
Under Merz's September 15, 2026 terms, approved financing can stand in for the deposit, and Merz states it "is not a party to any resulting financing agreements" that a practice signs with a third-party lender (read September 23, 2026). The balance still falls due "prior to receipt of the System," with a different schedule only if agreed in writing; ask Merz and the lender which date counts as receipt for your order. The financing contract is therefore a separate document to read next to Merz's terms.
